A Texas man is in custody after Houston police officers found the bodies of a woman and a toddler at an apartment early Friday morning.
Assistant Chief James Bryant indicated that family members of the woman, aged between 25 and 30, stopped officers outside the west Houston apartment complex around 3 a.m., as reported by KHOU.
Upon reaching the apartment, officers were confronted by the man, who appeared to have blood on him and was subsequently taken in for questioning. During a search of the premises, the bodies of the woman and a young girl, estimated to be between 2 and 4 years old, were discovered.
Bryant said police were called to the apartment earlier in the evening by a neighbor who reported a disturbance.
Police have not released the identities of the victims or the man covered in blood or said what if any charges he might face.
A neighbor who asked not to be identified told KHOU the disturbance woke him up.
One neighbor recollected, “It’s kind of like they were screaming and kind of arguing. It sounded to me like people were drunk coming in after Thanksgiving, you know, celebration somewhere. But it was loud. You know, everyone was kind of either yelling at each other or yelling for somebody.”
