A Los Angeles resident was shocked when he witnessed a man tampering with a tree outside his Hollywood home, leading to a fire being started.
The devastating LA Fires have destroyed entire neighborhoods, scorching a total of 40,600 acres in the last two weeks. However, a disturbing incident occurred when an individual was captured on camera trying to set another fire in Hollywood.
Actor Ricco Ross, known for his role in Mission: Impossible, woke up to the news on Monday that an attempt had been made to ignite a fire using a palm tree in his Fuller Street neighborhood around 6:30 am.
‘Woke up this morning and heard that two doors down, somebody had set fire to a tree to try and start a whole fire in West Hollywood,’ he said as he walked around his Melrose neighborhood.Â
‘He drops a match right here and then just starts walking down the street,’ he explained before telling his followers he was going to try to find the suspected arsonist.Â
Surveillance footage, shared by Ross, showed a man in a light-colored hoodie stopping near a tree and appearing to throw something before calmly walking away.Â
As he walked away, sparks can be seen flying off the tree onto the ground.Â
Smoke can be seen billowing off the tree as firefighters spray it, a separate video showed.Â

A white van that was parked next to the tree sustained heavy damage, with its entire passenger side burnt to a crisp.  Â
It is unclear if the man was apprehended. DailyMail.com has contacted authorities for comment.Â
The Palisades Fire, which started on January 7 and is only 43 percent contained, have left mass destruction through Los Angeles – burning through 23,700 acres.Â
