LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Two suspects have been arrested after a Lakewood shooting on Sunday evening that ended with one woman dead.
The Lakewood Police Department responded to a shooting incident on Sunday evening at around 8:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Kendall Street after receiving a report. They discovered a woman at the scene who had been shot.
The woman was taken to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. She was later identified as Nairelis “Junior” Castel, a 26-year-old resident of Lakewood according to the police.

During their investigation, the police pinpointed a suspect, 25-year-old Flor Contreras, who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of being involved in the shooting. Another suspect, Menelson Leonel Ramirez, aged 27 and from Aurora, was also identified, but he had fled the state, as reported by the police.
He was arrested in Megargel, Texas and will be extradited to Colorado. He will face a first-degree murder charge, police said.
Police said their investigation indicated that the two suspects and the victim knew each other.
No other information was immediately available Friday afternoon.
