Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson are seeing the sights while in India — and continuing to put any rumors that they’ve split to rest.
Martin, 47, and Johnson, 35, were captured on video taking part in a religious ritual at Babulnath Temple, a Hindu temple in Mumbai. One video, circulated online on Friday, January 17, shows Martin breaking into a smile upon realizing he is being filmed. In another video also shared on Friday, Johnson is depicted whispering a desire to a Nandi bull statue.
The couple, engaged since March 2024, is currently in the country for a series of Coldplay performances led by Martin. Speculations of a breakup were put to rest when they were seen strolling together in Mumbai on Friday. Coldplay, fronted by Martin, is scheduled to perform several shows in Mumbai until January 21, after which they will head to Ahmedabad, India, for two more performances. Later on, the band will continue with shows in China and South Korea in April before returning to the United States in May.
In response to breakup rumors circulating in August 2024, a spokesperson for Johnson refuted claims published by the Daily Mail stating that the engagement had been terminated. The representative clarified, “The rumors are unfounded. They are happily together.”
In the wake of their March 2024 engagement, the happy couple chose not to make a big public announcement.
“Chris and Dakota have been engaged for a while now, but they’re not the type to make some huge public announcement because they try to keep their relationship as private as possible,” a source told Us Weekly at the time. “They’re not in a huge rush to get married and don’t have a final wedding date set just yet.”
The insider also said that the pair intend to have Martin’s children, Apple and Moses, at their wedding, as well as his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow. “Dakota and Gwyneth have grown very close over the years and they consider themselves family at this point. One of the most important things to Chris is how beautifully Dakota fits into the lives of him and his children,” the source explained.
In the same month, Johnson told Bustle how proud she was of Martin, especially when watching him perform live. “I love watching him. I could watch him every day. I don’t know how to explain it,” she said at the time. “I feel like, I don’t know … I’m watching my most favorite being do his most favorite thing. When people are really good at things, it is [sexy.]”
Us exclusively confirmed in December 2017 that Johnson and Martin were dating two years after his divorce from Paltrow was finalized (the pair were married from 2003 to 2014).
