Tyra Banks, the famous supermodel and former host of “America’s Next Top Model,” has been impacted by the devastating wildfires currently spreading through Los Angeles.
During an emotional interview on the Australian morning show “Sunrise” on January 20, Banks revealed that her Los Angeles residence had been destroyed by the fires that began on January 7.
“I lost my house,” Banks shared, her voice filled with emotion. “I hadn’t really spoken about it, but, indeed, I have. I didn’t want to attract too much attention to myself, as I feel there are many others who are in greater need, so I kept it private. However, I can’t sit here and hide the fact that we lost our home.”
While splitting her time between New York and Australia, Banks was in Australia with her partner, Louis Bélanger-Martin, when they learned of the destruction of their residence. “We were at a friend’s house here, enjoying ourselves and celebrating,” she recounted.
“I kept checking my phone, not for updates about my house, but to ensure that friends and family were evacuating safely. Then I asked my partner, ‘I’m seeing something here, what do you think?’ and he nodded in understanding.”
Banks added, “I managed to hold it together and didn’t mention anything to my friends, choosing to remain present in that moment. Later, we returned home, where we allowed ourselves to grieve and share our feelings.”
Fortunately, some cherished items were preserved. “Since we split our time between here and New York, many of our keepsakes are safe in both locations, so I didn’t lose everything, thankfully,” she remarked. “There were some items we did lose, but it is indeed a challenging situation.”
Banks expressed, “I managed to hold it together and refrained from discussing it with my friends, remaining present in that moment. Afterward, we returned home, where we shared our tears and experienced our moment of grief.”
Fortunately, some of their cherished items were preserved. “We are situated between here and New York, so many of those keepsakes are either here or in New York, which means I did not lose everything, thankfully,” she remarked. “However, there were some items that we did lose. It is indeed difficult.”
Banks is not the only one facing this tragedy. Numerous other public figures, such as Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, Billy Crystal, and Anthony Hopkins, have also suffered the loss of their homes. The fires have resulted in at least 27 fatalities and continue to cause destruction, primarily due to the notorious Santa Ana winds in the area.
In the midst of this devastation, significant events in Hollywood have been affected by the fires, leading to the postponement of the Critics’ Choice Awards and the Grammy Awards being dedicated to wildfire relief efforts and honoring first responders. This serves as a poignant reminder of the substantial and ongoing difficulties encountered by those impacted by the wildfires.
