Jade Thirlwall, previously a member of Little Mix, revealed that Harry Styles failed to keep in touch with her after a date, happening around the time he was gaining fame as part of One Direction. She shared this detail while appearing on “The Louis Theroux Podcast” on Spotify.
Looking back on that time, Thirlwall mentioned, “We were about 16 years old then.” She recalled how Styles went silent after their date, which occurred while he was a contestant on “The X Factor.” This happened just after Styles, together with Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson, came together to form One Direction during the 2010 season of the British music show.
“The moment they began their live performances, he stopped messaging me,” Thirlwall recalled. “I thought, ‘That’s it for him. He has made it big.’”
Little did Thirlwall know that this brief encounter would be a small blip in what would become successful careers for both musicians. While Styles soared to stardom, Thirlwall found fame alongside her Little Mix groupmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards, and Jesy Nelson, forming the band in a later season of “The X Factor.”
Years later, Styles reached out to Thirlwall to express his regret for his previous lack of communication. “I encountered him, and he said, ‘I’m really sorry that I ignored you,’” she shared. Podcast host Louis Theroux aptly remarked, “He ghosted you.”
Reflecting on the experience, Thirlwall noted, “I was so young. It didn’t really matter.” Now at the age of 32, she looks back on the situation without resentment, describing Styles as “very talented” and “very charming.” At 30, Styles has indeed established himself as a prominent figure in the pop music landscape.
