It is often mentioned that President Donald Trump can provoke strong reactions from his critics on the left, and this has been particularly evident in the past day as inaugural events unfold and disorganized, upset Democrats grapple with their significant failures.
One example of this is Mariann Budde, a well-known Episcopalian bishop at the Washington National Cathedral who is openly opposed to Trump, and who chose to make a political statement during the National Prayer Service on Tuesday by criticizing Trump and Vice President JD Vance on issues related to LGBTQ rights and illegal immigration.
As we reported, here’s some of what she said during the service:
These hardworking individuals, who harvest our crops and clean our workplaces, who work in poultry farms and meat processing plants, who wash dishes in restaurants after we dine, they may not all be citizens or have the correct documentation, but the majority of immigrants are law-abiding. They contribute through taxes and are valued members of the community.
