North Carolina Mom Charged With Punching 6-Week Old Infant, Leaving Baby in Car While She Works

A mother from North Carolina was taken into custody after reportedly hitting her 6-week-old baby in the face and leaving the infant unattended in her vehicle while she was on shift at a McDonald’s, with temperatures dropping to around 40 degrees.

The woman, Nikita Jones, aged 21, has been charged with one count of misdemeanor child abuse and one count of deliberate child abuse resulting in severe physical harm as per WRAL. The current state of the baby’s health remains undisclosed.

Legal documents state that the baby was discovered without any safety restraints in the back of a vehicle located in downtown Raleigh on November 21. The vehicle had not been left running. The day prior, Jones allegedly struck the baby in the face, resulting in bruising around both eyes, swelling, and a facial scratch.

Jones was arrested on Monday, According to WNCN, she was given a $55,000 bond and ordered back to court on December 19.
