A Maryland man was charged with murdering his missing girlfriend after her body was allegedly discovered in his home on Sunday.
A woman named Alexis Schuler, 29 years old, was last spotted by her mother on January 10. They were moving homes along with Schuler’s three children. Reports from WTTG stated that Schuler was later seen leaving with Devontae Gray, aged 30, who inquired about Schuler’s location by calling her mother.
Authorities suspect that Gray murdered Schuler, who was declared missing the prior Tuesday. Gray allegedly placed her body in a plastic container, which he then filled with concrete and cinder blocks. Subsequently, Gray concealed the container beneath a staircase, covering the area with a wall made of timber, drywall, and imitation bricks, as reported by WJLA.
The police from Prince George’s County carried out a search at Gray’s residence on Sunday. Initially, Gray refuted any involvement in Schuler’s murder. However, he later admitted to the crime, stating that it occurred during a dispute, according to WRC.
“The bin was opened and inside human foot was visible, believed to belong to the Decedent,” the criminal complaint stated. “She was located under [a] large amount of soil and hay.”
Police said that they previously went to the home for domestic violence-related calls. On January 9, Gray called the police claiming he was fearful and may shoot Schuler if she entered his house.
Gray is charged with first-degree murder. He remains jailed without bond.
