GOP rep. makes bombshell proposal that could keep Trump in the White House until 2032

A Tennessee congressman has proposed amending the Constitution to allow Donald Trump to serve a third term as president.

Rep. Andy Ogles has introduced a Joint Resolution in Congress this week to propose an amendment to the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution, which currently limits presidents to serving only two terms.

In his resolution, Ogles outlined certain conditions that would come into effect if the proposed change is approved. One key provision is that no president can be elected for a third consecutive term after serving two terms in a row.

According to the resolution, “And no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”

Ogles said in a statement after filing the proposal that he believes Trump will need another eight years to carry out his goal of reshaping America after Joe Biden’s presidency.

‘President Trump’s decisive leadership stands in stark contrast to the chaos, suffering, and economic decline Americans have endured over the past four years,’ he wrote.

‘He has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal.

‘To that end, I am proposing an amendment to the Constitution to revise the limitations imposed by the 22nd Amendment on presidential terms. This amendment would allow President Trump to serve three terms, ensuring that we can sustain the bold leadership our nation so desperately needs.’

Ogles’ proposal quickly divided opinions after he shared the amendment change to X.

While some argued that Trump deserves a third term due to debunked claims the 2020 election was stolen from him, even some Trump fans balked at the idea.

Many said the amendment misses the mark as they would prefer to see term limits introduced for Congress’ aging lawmakers, and some pointed out that the change could also open the door for Barack Obama to return to power.

‘Please abandon this sinking ship of an idea post haste,’ one MAGA fan tweeted in response.

‘We are looking to shorten terms. Trump will legitimately be too old to lead in four years. We have a very deep bench of successors. Please stop this effort.’

Another said: ‘No. Should of passed term limits for congress first.’

‘All this does is fuel the fire of the Democrats and their ‘Trump’s a dictator’ talk,’ another said.

‘We wouldn’t like a 3rd Obama term. Trump will be 82 at the end of this term, Vance will be ready. No thanks, Trump should come out against this.’

Even some Trump fans balked at Ogles' proposition, and suggested that new Vice-President JD Vance would be ready to step into the White House at the end of Trump's second term

Ogles’ fawning over Trump’s return to the presidency comes after he signed a raft of executive orders on his first days back in office to radically reshape the federal government

Many of his first executive orders were signed in front of a cheering crowd at the Capital One Arena on Monday, including directly reversing 78 Biden-era executive orders with one stroke of a pen.

A number of the orders even include language hitting out at the former president, with others ranging in topics from national security, migration at the southern border, the use of natural resources and even gender ideology.

One such action was Biden’s order Enabling All Qualified Americans to Serve Their Country in Uniform, which said gender identity is not a bar from service.

Trump also rescinded policies establishing a White House Gender Policy Council and ending Cuba’s designation as a state sponsor of Terrorism.

And the ‘Initial rescissions of harmful executive orders and actions’ memo included a reversal on sanctions against the International Criminal Court.
