The intersection of U.S. 30 and State Route 89 remains closed Saturday morning.
A driver is recuperating after his semi-truck collided with a bridge rail and plunged around 20 feet into an Ashland County creek on Friday evening, as stated by state troopers.
As per a report from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Freightliner semi-truck with a tanker trailer was transporting a cargo of cheese whey concentrate heading westbound on U.S. 30 close to milepost 9 just before 5 p.m.
Troopers noted that the commercial truck deviated off the road’s left side and into the median, where it crashed into a guardrail. Subsequently, the truck rebounded off a bridge rail and dropped into the creek, falling an estimated “approximately 20 feet.”
The driver of the semi-truck, identified as a 62-year-old man from Indiana, was taken to an Ashland hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.Â
The crash shut down the westbound lanes of U.S. 30 at State Route 89, with Ohio Department of Transportation crews setting up a detour at the intersection. As of 8:50 a.m. Saturday, the intersection remains closed. Drivers are asked to stay clear and find an alternative route.
