Crews from multiple departments are battling a large brush fire near border of Orange and Lake counties, according to a news release.
Orange County Fire Rescue officials reported that they were actively engaged in battling a fire near 17421 Scholfield Road, in collaboration with the Florida Forest Service and Lake County Fire Rescue.
Initially, the Florida Forest Service indicated that the fire spanned approximately 50 acres; however, they later revised the estimate to 102 acres. Thankfully, the fire had been declared as “100% contained.”
According to OCFR, S.R. 429 is shut down in the area, but officials did not say what portion of the road is affected.
A statement on social media from the Florida Forest Service mentioned that crews would stay in the vicinity to conduct mop-up operations and would continue monitoring the area for several days to ensure full containment.
