Trump floats plan to 'clean out' Gaza
In a statement, US President Donald Trump expressed his desire for Jordan, Egypt, and other Arab nations to increase the number of Palestinian refugees they are willing to take in from the Gaza Strip. This move could potentially lead to relocating a significant portion of the population, aiming to rebuild the war-torn area from scratch.

During a 20-minute interaction with reporters on Air Force One, Trump mentioned that he had lifted the previous restrictions on providing 2000-pound (900-kilogram) bombs to Israel.

That lifts a pressure point meant to reduce civilian casualties during Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza, which is now halted by a tenuous ceasefire.

However, discussions have not yet progressed substantially regarding the second phase of the agreement. This phase is crucial for securing the release of all hostages detained by Hamas and establishing a lasting ceasefire.

Failure to release the remaining hostages could result in Israel resuming military actions against Hamas, following a significant conflict initiated by Hamas on October 7, 2023.
