The Super Bowl 2025 matchup is set

WASHINGTON — The Super Bowl LIX lineup is now set as the Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in the big match up.

The Eagles are representing the NFC after beating the Commanders on Sunday, 55-23. The Chiefs will represent the AFC after beating the Bills 32-29.

Kansas City is looking to become the first team in history to win three straight Super Bowls.

When is the Super Bowl?

The Super Bowl 59 will start on Sunday, February 9th, at 6:30 p.m. EST. This year’s Super Bowl will take place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, which will be the 11th time the city hosts the prestigious game.

It is also the eighth time that the Superdome has hosted the Super Bowl, the most of any NFL stadium.

When were the Philadelphia Eagles last in the Super Bowl?

The Philadelphia Eagles made it to the conference championship game for the second time in three years and ninth time in franchise history.

They were most recently in Super Bowl 57, where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-35.

How many Super Bowls have the Eagles won?

In 2018, the Eagles won their first Super Bowl in franchise history. They also made it to the Super Bowl in 2005 and 1981.

Sunday’s game was their fifth NFC title game at Lincoln Financial Field since it opened in 2003.

When was the last time the Chiefs were in the Super Bowl?

Kansas City is aiming to make history by becoming the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive titles in the Super Bowl era. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have made it to the AFC championship game for the seventh time in seven seasons since Mahomes became a starter.

In last year’s Super Bowl, Mahomes and Kansas City rallied to beat the 49ers, 25-22 in overtime. In 2023, the Chiefs beat the Eagles 38-35.

When was the last time the Buffalo Bills were in the Super Bowl?

The Buffalo Bills were hoping to reach their first Super Bowl appearance since 1994. The team had the distinction of playing in a record four straight Super Bowls from 1991 to 1994. However, the Bills are currently tied with the Minnesota Vikings for having the most Super Bowl appearances without clinching a victory, standing at four appearances each.

When were the Washington Commanders last in the conference championship?

Only five current Commanders were alive the last time the organization reached the NFC title game 33 years ago: LB Bobby Wagner, LB Nick Bellore, TE Zach Ertz, OL Cornelius Lucas and P Tress Way.

Jayden Daniels, who Washington selected with the No. 2 pick in the 2024 draft, was trying to become the first rookie quarterback to lead his team to the Super Bowl. He was only the sixth to reach a conference championship game. The previous five are Brock Purdy, Mark Sanchez, Joe Flacco, Ben Roethlisberger and Shaun King.

Purdy’s 49ers lost at Philadelphia two years ago.

When was the Commanders’ last Super Bowl appearance?

During Washington’s last Super Bowl appearance in 1992, they beat the Buffalo Bills 37-34 at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They also made it to the Super Bowl in 1973, 1983, 1984 and 1988.

What channel is the Super Bowl on?

Super Bowl LIX, which stands for 59, will be shown on FOX and livestreamed on FOX Sports App.

Who is performing at the Super Bowl?

Kendrick Lamar will headline the Super Bowl halftime performance in the Caesars Superdome.

Alongside the “Not Like Us” rapper will be multi-Grammy winner SZA.

SZA is Lamar’s former Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate. She appeared his recent album “GNX” and was featured on a couple songs including “Gloria” and “Luther,” which also features sampled vocals from Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn through “If This World Were Mine.”

The duo’s previous hits include the Oscar-nominated “All the Stars” and “Doves in the Wind.”

Lamar and SZA will also co-headline a 19-city North American tour this spring and summer. The Grand National Tour kicks off April 19 in Minneapolis and concludes June 18 in Washington, D.C.

Last year, Usher shined with a star-studded show and guests including H.E.R., Jermaine Dupri, Lil Jon, Ludacris and Alicia Keys.
