Naresh Bhatt has been held without bond since August on a felony charge of concealing a dead body.
A murder indictment has been brought against Naresh Bhatt, the husband of Mamta Kafle Bhatt. He now faces charges of murder and defiling a body according to state laws. The defiling charge is due to evidence suggesting that Mamta’s body was dismembered.
Chief Mario Lugo of the Park Police mentioned that DNA tests confirmed the blood found in Mamta’s bedroom belonged to her, indicating she was killed on July 29.
Investigations at the Bhatt residence involved testing various evidence, including potential blood on a handheld power saw. DNA tests conducted by Virginia’s Department of Forensic Science reveal that the blood on the power saw matches Mamta’s DNA profile derived from her hairbrush. Additionally, new body camera footage contributes further to the ongoing investigation.
