A man in Florida has been charged with killing his wife after he contacted the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office to confess to the crime, citing suspicions of infidelity.
Rogelio Prestol, aged 46, dialed 911 around 7:30 p.m. last Sunday. Law enforcement officers reached the residence and discovered Jhesandra Prestol, aged 40, deceased, with two unharmed children present inside the house, as per the sheriff’s office.
As per a probable cause affidavit, Prestol alleged that he suspected his wife of being unfaithful and confronted her on Sunday regarding financial transactions she made to an individual she was communicating with online, reported WFTX. When she declined to unlock her phone, he retrieved a 9mm handgun and began making threats towards her.
With the couple’s son pleading with his mother to comply, the mother began to climb out a window, but Prestol shot her. She got outside, Law&Crime reported, but Prestol went to the front porch and kept firing “until he ran out of ammunition.” He reportedly told investigators he didn’t bother to check on her because he “knew she was dead.”
Then he called his brother and told him what he’d done. He reportedly told the brother he was going to kill himself, but the brother persuaded him to call 911 instead.
One of the two children told police “his ears hurt because he was really close when his father shot his mother,” the affidavit said.
Prestol is charged with second degree murder and is being held without bond, WFXT said.
