The Last Leg host Adam Hills was forced to apologise after actor Brian Cox called Donald Trump a ‘c***’ three times during the live broadcast.Â
The Succession star unleashed a tirade at the President, 78, when he appeared on the late-night Channel 4 talk show on Friday.Â
Australian comedian Adam, 54, asked Cox: ‘I might be scared of where this is going to go but, what are your thoughts on Donald Trump so far, Brian?’
The Scottish actor 78, abruptly replied, ‘He’s a c***,’ prompting Adam to cover his face with both hands as the audience erupted into laughter.
Adam hastily said to the camera, ‘I apologise…’ as his co-host, comedian Alex Brooker laughed: ‘I knew that apology was coming!’Â
Comedian Michelle Wolf said: ‘They told me that was the one word I wasn’t allowed to say and I’m so glad you said it.’
Brian hit back: ‘Well they never told me what to say. I would have been happy not to say it but if somebody doesn’t call him a c***…’
Adam again faced the camera and told viewers: ‘I have to deeply apologise again. Let’s just assume I’m apologising for all of these.’
He then asked: ‘Are you not worried about being accosted by Trump fans?’
The Braveheart actor replied: ‘Me? I’m not going back to America, for that very reason. No, I mean, they’re all idiots anyway.’
After the ad break, Brian again called Trump a ‘c***’ while referring to his former onscreen son Jeremy Strong’s new film, The Apprentice, based on Trump’s reality show.
‘Of course I didn’t see The Apprentice because I wouldn’t watch anything about that c*** I mentioned earlier,’ he said, prompting Adam to issue another apology.
The Last Leg fans praised Brian’s profanity-laden speech on X, calling the actor a ‘legend’.
‘Brian Cox calling Trump a c*** three times is f***ing hilarious,’ one wrote.
‘Brian Cox calling Donald Trump a c*** is exactly what I want from live Friday night television,’ another added.
‘Brian Cox – legend,’ a third posted.Â
‘Brian Cox nails it in his first few words,’ someone else agreed.
Others blasted his explicit rant, with one viewer writing: ‘Brian Cox is a brilliant actor but his use of profanities on a woke show to gain some popularity is bordering on narcissistic.’
Brian has been outspoken in his criticism of Trump, saying he will ‘try to spend as much time’ in the UK as he can following the results of the US presidential election.Â
In November, Trump was elected for his second term as President after securing a victory against Democratic opponent Kamala Harris.Â
Asked if the result has made him lose faith in people, he told the Guardian: ‘No, it doesn’t make me lose faith in people. It just makes me realise people are stupid.
‘We’re in for a pretty rough old four years coming up.’
Discussing whether he will stay in the US, he said: ‘I don’t know. I’ve got to because my sons are there. But I’ll try to spend as much time here (UK) as I can.’Â
Earlier this month, the Dundee-born actor also shared his concern about the impact on women Trump’s Presidency may have.Â
‘The thing that worries me more than anything else is how women are being treated, how the women are being marginalised in America,’ he said on Good Morning Britain.
‘We’ve seen it with the defeat of Hilary (Clinton). We’ve certainly seen it with the defeat of Kamala (Harris).
‘And that has really made a problem, where do women fit in within that society? Women are fighting for their own rights, you know, the whole abortion issue…
‘So I just feel very strongly there’s a real anti-feminist thing going on.’
Presenter Richard Madeley pointed out: ‘But women voted for him in their millions.’
Brian conceded: ‘Well, they do! And that’s the problem, they don’t realise. It’s the lack of awareness that baffles me.’
