Michelle Williams Was ‘Thrilled’ To Learn Beyoncé Won AOTY

Beyoncé and Williams have maintained a strong friendship over the years, even after their time in the girl band. Their bond began back in the early 2000s when they were bandmates in Destiny’s Child.

Although Destiny’s Child went on a break in 2006, they sometimes come together for special performances. Beyoncé has featured in Williams’ music, and Williams has even performed alongside Beyoncé during her first Super Bowl show in 2023.

Throughout their decades-long friendship, they’ve supported each other publicly, so it was unsurprising to learn of Williams’ “thrilled” reaction to Beyoncé “finally” winning the coveted “Album of the Year” award during the 2025 Grammys ceremony.

Celebrities React To Beyoncé’s Major Win

Beyoncé won three Grammys during the February 2025 event, including “Best Country Duo/Group Performance” and “Best Country Album.” However, the moment everybody was excited to witness was the moment she won the highly-respected “Album of the Year” award.

The “RENAISSANCE” singer earned the honor for her March 2024 project “Cowboy Carter.” The full-length country album featured vocals from several powerful stars, including Willie Nelson, Shaboozey, Miley Cyrus, and Post Malone.

Another reason Beyoncé’s win moved so many people is because it was the singer’s fifth nomination in the AOTY category. The mother of three earned her first nod in 2008 and then again in 2013, 2016, and 2022. She lost to Taylor Swift, Beck, Adele, and Harry Styles, respectively.

After “Cowboy Carter” was announced as this year’s winner, several celebrities took to social media to pay their respects to whom many refer to as “The Queen.”

“BEYYYYY! Long time coming, queen,” Jazmine Sullivan posted on her Instagram.

The praise didn’t stop there, though.

Grammy-winning singer Anita Baker addressed the moving moment on her social media profile, saying the night was “historical.”

“Look-a-there, look-a-there,” she wrote, referring to a lyric from Beyoncé’s song “AMERICAN REQUIIM.”

“CONGRATULATIONS,” Baker finished.

Fans Can’t Believe The News

Since some Beyoncé fans believe the singer has been robbed of previous “Album of the Year” awards, they weren’t expecting the singer to take home the trophy with “Cowboy Carter.” However, once she did, they shared their unfiltered thoughts online.

“Although Renaissance (and honestly many other Beyoncé albums) should’ve BEEN won [“Album of the Year”], I’m glad “Cowboy Carter” won because the way white people tried to shut her out of the genre that is literally her culture was ridiculous,” one user posted. “Beyoncé’s artistry is everything!”

Another seemingly agreed and said that the impressive win “just feels so right.” They continued, “When one door closes, a million more open.”

Beyoncé Gets Emotional Over Grammy Win

After winning the special Grammy, Kevin Frazier caught up with the singer backstage, who said she was “honored” to be recognized by the Recording Academy.

Beyoncé explained that she’s spent the last 25 years working to perfect her craft, challenge her voice, and create opportunities for other musicians.

The 43-year-old gave a special shout-out to her oldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. Over the years, the 13-year-old has stood next to Beyoncé in some of the singer’s most memorable performances.

Carter earned her first Grammy in 2020 for her role in “Brown Skin Girl,” which won “Best Music Video.” Additionally, her latest move was a spot as one of Beyoncé’s dancers in her record-breaking NFL performance, also known as “Beyoncé Bowl.”

As she wrapped up her comments about her astounding win, Beyoncé also paid her respects to the country artists who had been making noteworthy music long before she entered the genre.

‘Cowboy Carter Tour’ Is Almost Here

Once Beyoncé wrapped up her NFL half-time performance, the singer posted a teaser on her Instagram, telling her followers to look for an announcement from her on January 14, 2025.

However, due to the wildfires that spread rapidly over the Los Angeles, California, area, the singer postponed the big moment for later.

On February 2, the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer posted a concert flyer on Instagram that read “Cowboy Carter Tour.”

A day later, after her exciting win at the Grammys, Beyoncé shared the show’s locations, which feature stops in nine cities, including Chicago, New York, and Houston.

Fans couldn’t contain their excitement about the news online.

“Beyoncé is going back on tour,” one user wrote. “We are so back.”
