Cleveland Browns fans protest at stadium after Myles Garrett trade request, demand change

At a protest outside Huntington Bank Field, fans expressed sympathy for Garrett and directed their frustrations at ownership and the front office.

When you tune in to see the Cleveland Browns play, one player stands out for his ability to make things happen: Myles Garrett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

Recently, Garrett made a formal request to be traded from the team, stating his wish to pursue a Super Bowl victory. Since Garrett joined the Browns in 2017, the team has struggled, with a record of 53-74-1 overall and just 3-14 in the most recent season.

“I woke up to the news this morning and I was really sad,” Jerry Kensick said later in the evening outside Huntington Bank Field

“We’re pissed,” Aiden Crowley added. “I mean, for  lack of a better term, we’re not happy.”

Crowley, using his Instagram handle The Cleveland Menace, orchestrated a protest march to the stadium to amplify his message. His goal is to have his opinions recognized, and he is urging others to join him in speaking out.

“We’re kind of just out here to send a message,” Crowley said. “Myles, we love you, and we understand that the front office is incompetent and we need something to change. Because yeah, we would love him to stay, but we understand why he’s leaving.”

“Our defense is going to go to horrible places without him,” Sam Kent lamented. “We are going to be horrible without him. So Myles, please stay. Please stay, Myles.”

Using general manager Andrew Berry’s own words against him, Garrett said, “The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton.” In short, he wants a ring. Period.

“I’m really glad that he’s asked to be traded, because I want to see Myles Garrett win a Super Bowl,” Joanie Lewanski said. “I’ll be rooting for him, whatever team he’s on.”
