MAITLAND, Fla. – Marcus Jordan, a former UCF basketball player, was arrested by Maitland police on charges of DUI and cocaine possession after his vehicle became stuck on train tracks, according to authorities.

Jordan, 34 and the son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, was booked into the Orange County jail Tuesday morning,

Around 1:15 a.m., Maitland police were in the vicinity of Greenwood Road near Mechanic Street when they noticed a vehicle parked on the railroad tracks. The officers approached a blue Lamborghini SUV and observed that its tires were partially buried in the gravel from spinning and that the bumper was damaged.

As per an arrest affidavit, the SUV had evaded a traffic stop by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office shortly before the incident. Maitland dispatch had just informed the officers about the fleeing vehicle moments before they saw its lights down the tracks.

Officers approached the passenger side of the vehicle where they spoke to the passenger and Jordan, who was in the driver’s seat. Officers say they could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle, the affidavit states. According to the report, there was a train traveling toward the area, approximately 10 minutes away before police ordered Jordan and the passenger to exit the vehicle.

During police questioning, Jordan said he was coming from a few venues in Winter Park and Casselberry and the last place he visited was Rachel’s Gentleman’s Club, he had some drinks, but insisted he was not over the legal limit.

According to the arrest affidavit, Jordan repeatedly stated that he had made a wrong turn and required assistance to remove his vehicle from the tracks. Officers said they noticed Jordan had slurred speech, confusion about his location, and red, bloodshot, and glassy eyes.

Following a field sobriety test, Jordan was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. As police escorted Jordan to the patrol car, they said he pulled against an officer to avoid walking. During a search, police located a clear plastic bag with a white powdery substance in Jordan’s right pants pocket which tested positive for cocaine, the affidavit states.

During the arrest, officers say Jordan did not comply with instructions given during the search and refused to cooperate when instructed to get in the back of a patrol car. Police say he also stuck his leg in the doorway to prevent the patrol car door from closing.

Officers say the patrol car smelled strongly of alcohol during the transport to the jail and that Jordan was “singing the entire way and his speech was slurred.”

After refusing to provide breath samples, Jordan was issued a DUI citation for driving under the influence. He faces charges of cocaine possession and resisting an officer without violence.

According to the jail, Jordan had posted bond and was released Tuesday morning. Police did not provide details on the passenger who was traveling with Jordan.

Originally from Chicago, Jordan played basketball at the University of Central Florida from 2009 to 2012 and currently resides in Orlando.
