Delta Airlines, Japan Airlines planes collide on the ground in Seattle

One week following a tragic midair collision between a passenger plane and an Army Black Hawk helicopter near Washington D.C., resulting in the loss of 67 lives, a new incident occurred in Seattle involving a Japan Airlines plane and a Delta Airlines plane.

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) made an announcement on social media on Wednesday, revealing that Port of Seattle Fire, police, and SEA operations teams swiftly responded to an incident that occurred just after 10:15 a.m. local time. The incident took place on a ramp along a taxi line between S Concourse and the south airport maintenance hangars.

The mishap involved a Japan Airlines aircraft that was taxiing and subsequently collided with the tail of a stationary Delta Air Lines aircraft. The airport’s statement about the event was shared on X, providing details about the incident.

On Monday, Delta Flight 2090 carrying 158 passengers was traveling from JFK in New York to Orlando when it was diverted to Raleigh due to an “odor in the cabin.” The cause remains unknown.

Passengers and crew on United Airlines Flight 1382 on Sunday were evacuated at George Bush Intercontinental/Houston Airport due to a “reported engine issue,” the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed.

The FAA said it is investigating.
