The Grammys Come To Beyoncé’s Defense With A Surprising Comment

Following her success at the award show, on February 2, Beyoncé shared pictures of herself proudly displaying her freshly-won Grammy trophies while radiating in a form-fitting golden gown.

Accompanying her photos was a caption quoting a lyric from one of the tracks on her album, “Sweet Honey Buckin’,” reflecting on her past experience of not clinching the AOTY accolade in 2022 for her immensely popular seventh album, “RENAISSANCE.”

“Come back and [f-ck] up the pen,” she wrote, referencing the songwriting throughout the 27-track LP.

Many fans loved the photo, with one writing, “Beyoncé, I am so proud of you.”

The Recording Academy clearly agreed, commenting that the 35-time Grammy winner earned the show’s highest honor fairly.

The Academy’s defense of Beyoncé comes just days after Billie Eilish fans heavily criticized the mother of three and her most recent album online.

On social media, Eilish fans felt the singer’s latest project, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” was snubbed at this year’s ceremony after losing all seven categories for which she earned nominations.

The album was released in May 2024 and featured many popular hits, including Spotify’s most streamed song of the year, “BIRDS OF A FEATHER.”

After Beyoncé was presented with the AOTY award, Grammy producers cut to Eilish crying in the audience.

“I’m so mad,” one user wrote. “She deserved at least one award.”

Another fan agreed, writing, “[Zero] Grammys for this album and for Billie is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen,” with another saying she “definitely at least deserved AOTY and Song of the Year.”

Fans Are Surprised By The Academy’s Defense

Beyoncé fans know that the singer’s journey to winning AOTY at the Grammys has been a long time coming. The singer earned previous nominations for past albums between the years of 2008 and 2022. However, she lost to Taylor Swift, Beck, Adele, and Harry Styles, respectively.

The losses have been a big deal in the music industry. Beyoncé’s husband, Jay Z, called the Grammys out during an acceptance speech in 2024, saying they don’t follow their “own metrics” when deciding who should win. “The most Grammys; never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work,” he said.

So, when BeyHive members noticed the Recording Academy’s comment, they couldn’t help but share their stunned reactions.

“Since when do they comment?” someone asked. “They [have] been on my sh-t list since “Lemonade,” but I can officially say [that] I’m no longer mad.”

Someone else also chimed in, saying the Grammys were telling everyone to “stop disrespecting the queen.”

Beyoncé’s Reaction To Winning Best Country Album Is Taking Over The Internet

Beyoncé’s Grammy win for Album of the Year isn’t the only award that surprised people on February 2. The singer also won an award for Best Country Album, which was nominated against Post Malone, Chris Stapleton, Kacey Musgraves, and Lainey Wilson.

When Taylor Swift announced the winner as “Cowboy Carter,” the camera panned to the singer, who jumped in her seat before looking around to make sure she heard it correctly.

Later, Beyoncé’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, directed the “Single Ladies” singer to stand up so that she could go on stage.

“Oh my God,” Beyoncé mouthed to those around her. Jay Z was also seen saying, “Wow.”

Since then, the short clip has become a viral meme shared across popular social media accounts like IHeartRadio and even Beyoncé’s personal website.
