A 19-year-old man from California has been taken into custody and accused of various offenses in connection with a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a pregnant teen and left her baby in critical condition.
Authorities said Thursday that hospital staff delivered the teenager’s baby after the crash, but the mother did not survive, KABC reported.
Isaac Blackhorse Garcia has been charged with murder, hit and run resulting in death, and unlawful sex with minor.
According to reports, Blackhorse Garcia was romantically involved with the underage sister of the victim. As he was dropping the sister off at her residence in Riverside, some family members approached his vehicle. Garcia then quickly drove away, hitting the victim with his car in the process.
He was later arrested in Moreno Valley.
The victim’s name has not been released.
