A local Louisiana woman has been arrested following the discovery of a reporter found dead in his hotel room.
Adan Manzano, 27, was found unresponsive on Wednesday in his hotel room in Kenner, Louisiana, as reported by Fox 7. Manzano, who was in town to cover the Super Bowl for Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports, was discovered during a welfare check after he failed to appear for a morning appointment.
Hotel security footage captured Manzano with a Slidell woman named Danette Colbert, 48, on Wednesday morning. The video showed Colbert leaving his room alone later that morning. Following her departure from the hotel, Colbert was observed using Manzano’s credit cards in various locations across the New Orleans area.
Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley stated, “Upon processing the hotel room, detectives found that a credit card, which was the same card used for the hotel check-in, was missing—along with his cell phone.”
Colbert has been arrested on charges of bank fraud, computer fraud, illegal transmission of monetary funds, access device fraud, and purse snatching. Authorities stated that until an autopsy is completed, there is not enough evidence to make an arrest in connection with Manzano’s death.
Colbert has a history of arrests related to drugging and robbing men. “It’s important to note that Miss Colbert’s criminal history includes two incidents where she drugged a victim and stole his access device cards and other items,” Conley added.
Manzano will be remembered by his colleagues.
“As KGKC’s Sports Anchor and Reporter, Adan was a true professional and a rising star who exemplified excellence in his work,” read a Facebook post from Telemundo.
Manzano leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter who lost her mother in a car accident in April, according to WWLTV.
