More than 3,000 fans filled the stadium, enjoying a unique game-day atmosphere.
Cleveland Browns supporters had aspirations of their team making it to the Super Bowl this year, but unfortunately, that dream did not come true. However, for some fans, Sunday night was still incredibly special as they gathered at Huntington Bank Field for the ultimate Super Bowl watch party.
While the Super Bowl was taking place in New Orleans, a group of Browns fans were treated to an exclusive event organized by Verizon. Thousands of fans were invited to Huntington Bank Field to get a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse of the Browns’ home turf.
With over 3,000 attendees packing the stadium, courtesy of Verizon, fans were able to soak in a distinctive game-day ambiance. This event was part of a larger effort by Verizon, who hosted watch parties in 30 different cities across the nation, expecting a turnout of over 100,000 fans collectively.
“We’ve never done anything like this before,” a Verizon spokesperson said. “It’s a big day and an exciting day for us.”
As part of the festivities, fans had the chance to meet former Browns cornerback Joe Haden, who emphasized the importance of keeping Browns fans engaged even when their team wasn’t playing in the big game.
“I think it’s dope, just being able to keep Browns fans around football,” Haden said. “Especially when your team isn’t involved, but just knowing this is where we want to be.”
Haden also shared his support for Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, a Cleveland native.
“He’s from Cleveland, you know what I’m saying? So, if Cleveland can’t have it, let’s have a dude from the area bring it home to Heights,” Haden said.
The Browns’ season gave fans plenty to talk about, from stadium debates to longtime players departing from the team. Despite the ups and downs, Browns fans remained loyal.
“Never any other team,” one fan said. “I’ve had people try to get me to go over to some rivals, Pittsburgh and Baltimore, but it’s brown and orange all day.”
As the season came to a close, fans could only hope that one day, the Browns would get their shot at the Super Bowl.
