Hoarder arrested for extreme animal cruelty, as authorities discover 10 dead pets, rescue many more: police

A woman from Long Island was taken into custody and accused of animal cruelty and other charges following the discovery of 10 dead animals and numerous severely neglected pets in her home, which was determined to be uninhabitable.

The Suffolk County SPCA reported that during the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Kings Park on February 8th, investigators encountered an environment within the residence containing the animals that was described as having “foul-smelling air and a strong stench of excrement, urine, and decay, so overpowering it caused individuals to cough and retch upon entry and irritated their eyes.”

Officials added that the animals found indoors were in “an overcrowded area of hoarded garbage over six feet high in some spaces.”

Aside from uncovering the deceased and mistreated animals, authorities purportedly also uncovered significant quantities of suspected drug paraphernalia on the premises, such as crack cocaine and MDMA.

Officials said Nucci was booked at the Suffolk County Police Department 4th Precinct and released and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 28, 2025.

She faces animal cruelty, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.

SPCA officials said all the rescued animals will soon be available for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter.
