Meghan Markle makes rare remark about Suits at Invictus Games

The Duchess of Sussex made a rare remark about Suits during an Invictus Games event in Vancouver.

Meghan Markle, 43, who rose to fame in her role as Rachel Zane in the hit American television series, met Suits fans during the Team USA breakfast on Saturday.

The group couldn’t resist telling the mother-of-two about their love of the show, in which she starred from 2011 to 2017.

Leandra Moehring, who chatted to Meghan at the event, told People: ‘We told her we saw her on Suits.

And she’s like, ”I’m sorry I’m not wearing a pencil skirt,” jokingly alluding to her go-to costume when playing Zane.

Meghan wrote in a blog post in 2015 about how the role changed her life forever, gushing: ‘I remember that day like it was yesterday. My cheeks still hurt from how hard I smiled.’

But as her relationship with Harry took off and went public towards the end of 2016, her role became precarious.

Now, Meghan is equally thriving in her new pursuits, with Moehring also telling the outlet how Meghan and Prince Harry, 40, were eager to talk to attendees.

She said: ‘They really took the time with each and every one of us. And despite people who are trying to keep them on schedule, they just did not mind taking pictures at all. And it was just super neat’.

A second athlete, Bryce Ewing, added: ‘When Meghan looks at you, she really looks at you, and you feel it in your soul,’ adding, ‘she’s really caring. She’s very intuitive. She’s so down to earth, and she looks like she really cares.’

Before Suits, Meghan featured as a ‘briefcase girl’ on Deal or No Deal, a CBS crime procedural, and the role of ‘Hot Girl’ in an Ashton Kutcher movie.

But after years of trying, she eventually landed her big break by securing the role of earnest paralegal Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits in 2011.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently in Canada where the 2025 Invictus Games are underway, with the couple making multiple appearances in Vancouver this weekend.

Beginning with the Family and Friends Welcome Reception on Friday, Meghan, 43, has showed off a series of stylish outfits that comprised old and new pieces from her enviable wardrobe.

After the Opening Ceremony on Saturday, the Montecito-based duchess joined Prince Harry in the stands for the Vancouver Canucks ice hockey match.

The duke and duchess were holding hands as they walked into the Rogers Arena, with Meghan opting to rewear a Burgundy & Black Wool Coat from Givenchy that she first debuted in 2018.

She layered the long coat over a black turtleneck from Valentino and a pair of unidentified black skinny jeans, and finished her outfit with black suede booties also from Valentino.

The following day, Meghan hinted at ‘walking into a very important meeting’ by posting a picture of her and Harry on her Instagram Stories.

It was later revealed that the couple spent Sunday morning at a special ‘storytime’ event organised for children of the Invictus Games participants, with Meghan reportedly reading from a book called All Are Neighbours by Alexandra Penfold.

For the occasion, Meghan put together a monochromatic olive look that she wore under a camel trench coat from Giuliva Heritage (£2,377).

Meghan’s ‘Emmalyn’ sweater from DOÊN, which was founded by California-based sisters Margaret and Katherine Kleveland, is priced at £240 approximately but is no longer available to purchase.

She paired it with a khaki-coloured, ribbed cashmere skirt from La Ligne (£237) and her olive green ‘Celia’ pumps from Ralph Lauren that Meghan first wore in 2018 when she attended Prince Louis’ christening ceremony in London.

The youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales was christened at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace on July 9, 2018.

Meghan also added a new piece of jewellery to her staple Cartier stack, with the Duchess showing off a gold-plated bracelet engraved with the word ‘Joy’ on it.

The delicate bangle from accessories brand Valencia Key retails for £125.

Later that day, Meghan and Harry attended the wheelchair basketball game between Team USA and Team Nigeria at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Meghan’s smart casual outfit included another DOÊN piece – the brand’s ‘Duccia’ blazer in the colour castle grey (£562 approximately) – as well as the Stuart Weitzeman black suede boots she hasn’t been seen in since November 2017.

As the game progressed, the mother-of-two took off the jacket to reveal a navy crewneck sweater from one of Meghan’s favourite brands, La Ligne, that sells for around £260.

She finished the outfit with a pair of skinny flared jeans from Veronica Beard that costs £200.

For her final outfit change, Meghan traded in the DOÊN blazer for her black Hermes puffer jacket that she first wore last February during a multi-day trip to Whistler, Canada, to mark the one-year countdown to the 2025 Invictus Games.

The duke and duchess rounded Sunday out with an appearance at the Wheelchair Churliong finals, with Meghan spotted photographing the games while enthusiastically cheering for the participants.

The luxurious reversible jacket she was seen wearing features a pure goose down filling, ribbed funnel neckline, Clou de Selle engraved snap closures and a printed lining.

This year’s games, which is to celebrate service men and women who put their lives on the line for their nations, will include winter sports for the first time ever.

Meghan’s attendance is understood to underscore her support for her husband and the mission of Invictus, a cause that is deeply personal to them both.

Her sole focus during these games will be to uplift her husband, the competitors and sharing their stories.

The couple famously appeared in public together for the first time at the Toronto Invictus Games in 2017, pictured hand-in-hand at a wheelchair tennis event.
