State Farm revealed that a live stunt during a Philadelphia Eagles game last NFL season generated 415 earned media placements valued at over $20 million. The event featured Donna Kelce, mother of Travis and Jason Kelce, watching her son Jason play while seated next to Jake, the iconic fictional spokesperson for State Farm.
“Earned media went crazy, as did engagement in social on X,” State Farm Head of Marketing Alyson Griffin recently told Marketing Dive, calling it “a lightning-in-a-bottle moment.”

“The team was really smart because it alerted our measurement partners and said, ‘Something is happening. Let’s be ready to get the data.’ And we did. We got it really fast,” Griffin continued. “And then we saw something we didn’t anticipate. We had three spots in the Eagles game and three spots in the Chiefs game later that night. The performance of the spots increased by 15 times after the stunt.”
