Police in Albuquerque, New Mexico, have arrested a second suspect in connection to a fatal shooting — and the suspect is the son of a federal agent.
Thomas Acee, 21, was taken into custody on December 5th following investigations linking him to the tragic shooting death of 13-year-old Michael Tubb. The incident took place on August 18th when Acee allegedly fired at a vehicle that Michael was in, resulting in the young boy’s death. Another unidentified teenager who was also present sustained injuries but survived the attack. Acee now confronts several serious felony charges, including an open count of first-degree murder.
Reports detailing Acee’s arrest highlighted his familial connection as the son of FBI Special Agent Bryan Acee, a prominent figure in the local community known for his appearances in the media discussing matters related to crime and law enforcement.
The initial individual apprehended in relation to the shooting was 22-year-old Michael Flores, who was placed under arrest on November 13th and lodged in the Metropolitan Detention Center. Like Acee, Flores is facing an open count of first-degree murder. Subsequent investigations revealed that Acee was in the company of Flores at the time of the fatal shooting.
KOAT, a local ABC affiliate, reported that a spokesperson from the Albuquerque Police Department said that Acee was accused of firing on a vehicle at 4th Street SW and Atlantic Avenue SW in Downtown Albuquerque. That vehicle was being driven by a 17-year-old girl, who was the other victim of the shooting. Tubb was her passenger.
In addition to the felony murder charge, Acee also faces charges of shooting at or from a motor vehicle, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, nine felony counts of tampering with evidence, nine counts of conspiracy to commit a felony, and two counts of attempting to commit a felony. He is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center without bail.
