According to an obituary from Hummel Funeral Homes, Christman died in his sleep from natural causes.

CLEVELAND — The cause of death has been revealed for former Ohio State offensive lineman and Revere High School football standout Ben Christman.

Christman passed away peacefully in his sleep due to natural causes, as stated in an obituary from Hummel Funeral Homes. His body was discovered in an apartment close to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, on Feb. 11, just a day before he would have turned 22.

Christman, a Division I football player, recently transferred to UNLV in December.

UNLV’s Head Football Coach Dan Mullen expressed deep sorrow upon hearing the news of Ben’s death. He mentioned in a previous statement, “Our team’s heart is broken to hear of Ben’s passing. Since the day Ben set foot on our campus a month ago, he made the Rebels a better program. Ben was an easy choice for our Leadership Committee as he had earned the immediate respect, admiration, and friendship of all his teammates. Our prayers go out to his family and all who knew him. Ben made the world a better place and he will be missed.”
