The puppies rescued from a Wheat Ridge hotel room earlier this month are recuperating and are now available for adoption at the Foothills Animal Shelter in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
According to the Wheat Ridge Police Department, a welfare check was requested at a La Quinta Inn on February 1st, leading to the discovery of 11 puppies confined in one of the hotel rooms. Community services officers responded to the call and found the puppies housed in four kennels.
Wheat Ridge PD reported that the officers encountered a strong odor of feces emanating from the room and kennels. The kennels were found to be contaminated with feces, some of which had been smeared on the puppies’ paws. Additionally, one of the puppies had a laceration on its paw that was actively bleeding.
Their former owner was issued a municipal summons for 11 counts of animal cruelty or inhumane treatment.

The puppies are up on Foothills Animal Shelter’s website now for adoption, but Wheat Ridge PD emphasized, Foothills is only looking for good homes with owners who will truly care for these puppies.
