An investigation lasting several months has concluded with a New Mexico pair being sent to prison, charged with multiple felony counts of child abuse against one of their own children.
Jammy Jackson, aged 58, and Patricia Madrid, aged 36, were taken into custody on Feb. 18 following an inquiry by Child Protective Services regarding allegations of mistreatment by their 15-year-old daughter. Documents from the court, as reported by KRQE, a local CBS affiliate, reveal that the teenager claimed to have been confined in an outdoor chicken coop for an extended period and provided only with packaged ramen noodles. Their other children did not experience the same treatment.
The Farmington Police Department released a statement indicating that detectives commenced the investigation on Sept. 16, 2024, following a tip-off from Child Protective Services regarding concerns about the well-being of the 15-year-old child. As per the Farmington Police, “Reports suggested that the child had been confined in a chicken coop for prolonged periods and exposed to severe weather conditions.”

The court documents revealed more alleged mistreatment of the teenager, including the allegation that she was fed only packaged ramen noodles while the other children in the household were able to eat whatever they wanted. The documents also alleged that the alleged victim was only allowed to use the bathroom twice a day.
Farmington police detectives were reportedly able to confirm the allegations made by the 15-year-old girl, and she was removed from the home. It was not made clear what happened to the other children who lived in the household.
Jackson and Madrid were arrested on Feb. 18 and charged with 14 felony counts including abuse of a child and conspiracy to commit child abuse. Both are being held at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center without bail.
