The tourist was captured in a pink dress leaning from the train a mere few moments before the horrific tragedy.

The Podi Menike train, which Olga was on, is renowned for its amazing scenery as it passes forests, mountainous terrains and beautiful landscapes.

She sadly died after falling off the train when attempting to take a selfie, according to a local report citing cops.

Olga was hanging from the train footboard between the Badulla and Hali Ela railway stations when the tragedy occurred, it adds.

She is said to have “knocked against a rock, fell of the train and sustained severe injuries”.

Heading towards Ella, the train passes through the renowned Nine Arches Bridge, considered one of the top rail experiences globally.

Olga was given emergency treatment after the accident but later died from her head injuries in hospital.

The tourist was part of a Russian tour group in Sri Lanka.

The grandmother, originally from Saratov, worked for a security company in the Moscow region.

Russian diplomats are handling the arrangements to bring her home following the terrible tragedy.

Recent reports suggest a British hiker tragically fell to his death in India while unintentionally hiking along a prohibited high-altitude path in hazardous weather conditions.

The 27-year-old was walking with a friend in the Dhauladhar mountains, near the Himalayas, when he fell and sustained serious injuries.

It’s thought the pair were unaware of a local ban on high-altitude trekking in the winter seasons, cops said.

On February 14, the pair reportedly embarked on the trek from Dharamkot to the snowline via Triund in Dharamshala.

The Brit is believed to have slipped during their descent, seriously injuring himself.

The tourist “suffered an accident and sustained rib injuries,” Indian police said.

His pal trekked back down to desperately get help from cops and locals, with a team of rescuers immediately dispatched, local media claims.

A rescue team, consisting of the fire department, police, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), arrived at the scene late at night.

Despite their efforts, the Brit succumbed to his injuries and was tragically pronounced dead on Monday.
