It’s headphones in, world off for Kelly Ripa… or is it?
On Live with Kelly and Mark on Friday, Mark Consuelos shed light on the potential harms of noise-canceling headphones.
“People who have been using those noise-canceling headphones to tune out distractions at work or public public transportation,” Consuelos began.
Ripa teased, “Or your snoring husband.”
Consuelos issued a warning from doctors that during exercise, frequent use of technology to drown out surroundings may harm the brain.
He also mentioned an uptick in young people experiencing “listening issues” and playfully teased his wife about her potential “noise-cancelling spouse perception” from using headphones.
Consuelos pointed out the ongoing use of headphones even during their interactions, suggesting that his wife’s constant use of them might be affecting their communication.
As Consuelos cited the example of Ripa arriving home from the gym, headphones on, Ripa stared at him with a slightly sly smirk, causing Consuelos to chuckle.
“And sometimes when your hair’s over your ears, I don’t know that you have your little AirPods in your ears,” he shared. “So I have, like, full conversations with you. And I’m like, wow. And you don’t say anything, you continue walking, and you just walk in and walk out. That happens sometimes. You should be aware of that.”
Ripa’s smirk broke into a smile as she admitted to Consuelos, “I heard every word you said. I just chose not to engage.”
She then teased that her “earbuds are a red herring.”
“I’m gonna leave these in. That way he thinks I’m listening to something,” she added.
Consuelos replied, “Got it. It’s like the proverbial headache. It’s like, ‘I have a headache.’ Or gas.”
Ripa quipped, “‘I can’t hear you. I’m on a call.’”
