A Pennsylvania police officer was killed Saturday morning in a shootout after a gunman opened fire at a York hospital.
The gunman was also killed, WHP reported, and several others were hospitalized.
UPMC Hospital said in a statement that no patients were injured in the shooting.
WellSpan York Hospital reported treating four individuals following a notification of an “active shooter situation with injuries at a nearby hospital” shortly after 11 a.m.
The York County Office of Emergency Management said police officers responded to a “threat” at the hospital and “neutralized” it.
Andrew Duarte, the slain police officer, was identified by West York Borough. The Pennsylvania State Police verified the gunman’s death but did not offer additional details.
Law enforcement said a news conference would eventually be scheduled.
