ROYAL-MAD Donald Trump will be invited to stay with the King at Balmoral when the PM jets to Washington this week.
The US President has received a rare second state visit invitation to the United Kingdom, which is seen as a significant move in strengthening the relationship between the two countries. The invitation is considered a top priority in Sir Keir Starmer’s efforts to establish a close bond with the new White House administration.

Sources within the government have disclosed to The Sun that a possible venue for the visit could be Balmoral, owing to the President’s Scottish roots and his ownership of two golf courses in Scotland. This choice is viewed as both symbolic and strategic.
Insiders from the political and royal circles reveal that extending an invitation to the President for a visit to Balmoral would be an exceptional gesture. Previously, President Trump has been accommodated at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. However, due to ongoing renovations at the King’s official residence in London, Balmoral is being considered as a fresh and appealing option.
The Aberdeenshire castle where monarch’s traditionally spend the summer, plays host to the PM every year, with only one previous US President understood to have visited.
Dwight D. Eisenhower made an informal stop over to see the late Queen Elizabeth in August 1959 alongside ex-PM Harold MacMillan.
Last night Buckingham Palace and Downing Street both declined to comment.
However a No10 source confirmed an invitation to a state visit would be communicated by the PM when he arrives at the Oval Office on Thursday for make or break talks with the new administration.
President Trump was awarded his first state visit in June 2019, with no US President offered two such distinctions.
He has spoken regularly of his fondness of the Royal family, especially the late Queen.
In December he met with Prince William in Paris, and later told the PM he was greatly impressed by the heir to the throne.
A Whitehall insider said: “He’s already been to Windsor and Buckingham Palace, so Balmoral is being talked about.
“Everyone knows he loves Scotland and it’s near his golf course.”
