Son Charged With Murder of Mom, Found Dead in Garage

A 15-year-old Texas boy has been arrested after he shot his mother and sister multiple times and blamed it on “a bunch of edibles” he ate.

The mother and the 17-year-old sister of the boy were reported to be in critical condition following the shooting, as stated by Houston Police Lt. JP Horelica to KHOU.

According to the police, the boy made a call to 911 where he expressed intentions to harm either someone else or himself. When the dispatcher tried to contact the home, the mother answered and denied any knowledge of the situation mentioned by the boy.

Law enforcement officers responded to the scene after 11 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, firefighters were the first to reach the location, and the boy aimed a gun at them, claimed to have committed a murder, then discarded the weapon and fled from the scene.

Police chased him down and took him into custody. They found the two victims inside the home. A 16-year-old sister was not shot.

“[The officers] found out that the 15-year-old suspect had just eaten a bunch of edibles and I guess had a bad reaction to them, at which point he ended up using that gun and shooting his mother multiple times in the back and shooting one of his sisters multiple times,” said Horelica.

According to KTRK, police said the boy, one of his sisters, and an adult ate the THC edibles, although they did not say who gave them that information. The suspect reacted badly and called for an ambulance, while the others tried to calm him down. They also began to laugh at him, which prompted him to get the gun, police said.

Police said the boy was taken to a hospital for observation and will face charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault of a family member.

The identities of the suspect and the victims have not been released.
