According to officials from the government, Mingyang, a Chinese company, has committed to building a £200 million factory for manufacturing blades in the United Kingdom. Additionally, they have promised to establish a £470 million facility to manufacture turbines if their equipment is selected for the North Sea project.

Ministers are pushing for the investment to go to Wales to replace jobs lost through Net Zero hit to Tata Steel.

Despite objections from the Ministry of Defence regarding national security issues, a critical meeting is set to take place tomorrow to explore the potential investment proposal.

The deal would fly in the face of fears Beijing will use the wind farms to spy and could be used for underwater espionage.

MI5 are reportedly helping to establish the extent to which the tech could be exploited to eavesdrop on the UK.

In response to the situation, Energy Minister James Murray emphasized the government’s profound concern for the security and robustness of the UK’s energy infrastructure. He stated, “While we cannot provide details on specific cases, the protection of UK energy infrastructure is a top priority for the government.”
