Gabby Petito’s parents express their distrust towards Brian Laundrie’s family in a new docuseries that unveils more information about the sequence of events leading to their daughter’s tragic death at the hands of her fiancé in the wilderness of Wyoming. One notable revelation includes the claim that they paid $25,000 to a well-known attorney while claiming they were unaware of the crime.
Joseph Petito questions this decision, stating, “You’re going to throw $25,000 of your hard-earned cash out on a lawyer from f—ing Wyoming, and you’re telling me you didn’t ask where she was?” This is showcased in Netflix’s “American Murder: Gabby Petito.”
The payment came three days after Laundrie called his parents and less than a week after Petito was last seen alive.Â
“That’s some bulls—,” he added, “I’ll tell you that right now.”
Cassie Laundrie has refuted any involvement in her parents’ conversations with her brother. She recently disputed a police detective’s account of their talk, suggesting that it was mischaracterized, as heard in the bodycam footage.
Since the case grabbed national headlines in 2021, Petito’s parents have become advocates for missing persons and domestic violence victims.
