19-year-old arrested for allegedly shooting man during October house party in Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A 19-year-old was arrested nearly two months after he allegedly shot a man during a house party in Fort Collins.

As per the Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS), authorities received a call regarding multiple gunshots in the 400 block of Butch Cassidy Drive just before 3 a.m. on Oct. 19. Simultaneously, a separate call came in from an individual claiming to have been shot and located in a vehicle at another site. Responding officers made their way to both the reported shooting scene and the vehicle’s location.

Upon reaching the vehicle spot, law enforcement discovered a man with a gunshot injury. The vehicle itself exhibited multiple bullet holes, as per the information released by the Fort Collins police department.

The man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Investigations led by the authorities unveiled that a physical altercation erupted during a house party situated in the 400 block of Butch Cassidy Drive. The situation quickly escalated into a shooting incident, as informed by FCPS.

Through their investigation, detectives identified Joe Sanchez II, 19, as the suspect. The teen was arrested on Thursday evening for several charges:

  • Two counts of attempted first-degree murder (Class 1 felony)
  • First-degree assault (Class 3 felony)
  • Attempted first-degree assault (Class 4 felony)
  • Prohibited use of weapons
  • Unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon
  • Harassment

“Our investigative teams are tenacious in their pursuit of justice, particularly when it comes to crimes of violence against people. I’m thankful for the work that these detectives did on this case to identify and arrest this suspect,” said Assistant Chief Kristy Volesky in a statement.
