FORMER CNN star Don Lemon has been slammed online after appearing to chase a subway train in a bizarre social media video.
The video, which has gained 180,000 views, shows the former anchor tapping on the train windows and then seemingly chasing after one in a New York City station.
Lemon knocked on the window and showed a woman a picture of cartoon character that looked to be a mockup of Donkey and Sonic the Hedgehog.
The comedian was seen beaming and looked proud of himself as he showed the cartoon picture to the camera.
In another moment, Lemon showed another train passenger a picture of himself with a blue tint.
Standing by the yellow line in Times Square-42nd Street Station, he then started running after the moving train, sparking concern among his viewers.
Some claimed Lemon was “unhinged” while others were left puzzled.
“Serious question… have you lost your mind?” one TikToker asked.
A critic described his actions as “cringe” while others wondered if Lemon had “lost the plot.”
“What is this? Is this supposed to be funny?” another viewer scoffed.
Some compared the journalist to a “lame prankster” and said his stunt was an act of “desperation.”
“From CNN to TikTok trains?” one X user said.
But, others feared for the journalist given he was so close to the yellow line.
“Omg, be careful on those platforms,” a concerned viewer chimed.
“The grandma in me wants to tell you to stop playing so close to the edge,” another said.
“Chasing the train is diabolical,” a third social media user mocked.
While Lemon was heavily criticized, others rushed to praise the journalist for being goofy and bringing humor.
In April 2023, Lemon was fired from CNN after 17 years with the network.
He was dismissed after making remarks about women and aging that were regarded as sexist.
Lemon claimed that Nikki Haley was not “in her prime.”
CONTROVERSIAL COMMENTS
The comments were made in the context of her bid to be the Republican presidential nominee for the 2024 election.
Lemon clashed with his co-star Poppy Harlow after making the remarks before he later apologized.
Lemon claimed he was blindsided when CNN chiefs decided to axe him.
But, network bosses vehemently disputed his claims.
In January 2024, it was reported that Lemon would launch a show on the social media platform X.
But, in April, Elon Musk suddenly canceled the show just hours after being interviewed by Lemon.
At the time, Lemon said: “Elon Musk has canceled the partnership I had with X
He had agreed to the interview with no limitations and was asked a variety of respectful and comprehensive questions, ranging from topics like SpaceX to the upcoming presidential election.
“We had a good conversation. Clearly, he felt differently.”
Lemon has since deactivated his X account.
