CHICAGO (WLS) — Mayor Brandon Johnson has named 35th Ward Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa as the General Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Chicago Park District.
The appointment comes after the resignation of Superintendent Rosa Escareno announced her resignation.

“Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa is a dedicated public servant with ten years of experience in municipal leadership and a proven record of creating alliances and delivering significant community investments,” stated Mayor Brandon Johnson. “Our administration is dedicated to investing in the people and neighborhoods of our city. Enhancing the equity and accessibility of our Park District, especially in underinvested areas, is crucial to enhancing the quality of life for all Chicagoans. Carlos is a capable leader and will serve as a commendable Superintendent of the Chicago Park District.
Alderman Ramirez-Rosa has been elected alderman of the 35th Ward three times.

I also extend my appreciation to the residents of the 35th Ward who have entrusted me to represent them for the past decade. It has been a privilege to serve you all,” expressed Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa. “I am eager to continue that commitment to service in this new capacity to ensure that all Chicagoans have the opportunity to enjoy our parks.”
The mayor’s selection is subject to approval by the Chicago Park District Board.
Mayor Johnson said he will soon outline a process for identifying his appointment for the next 35th Ward alderman.
