Is Google Really Ending Their DEI Hiring, Training Practices After Pres. Trump's EO?

Some companies, products, and institutions become so embedded in culture that their name transforms into a common term – for instance, “aspirin,” or when individuals use the term Kleenex to mean “tissues.”

Google is a prime example in the realm of internet search engines. It’s not uncommon to hear someone respond to a question with “Google it.” However, despite being a tech company headquartered in California’s San Francisco Bay Area, Google has not avoided the various trends typical of tech firms, such as Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) practices. Nevertheless, Google seems poised to officially halt its DEI hiring strategies and training initiatives.

Is “officially” a qualifier, though?

Google has initiated the process of phasing out the company’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs as per information shared with Fox News Digital by a knowledgeable source involved in the company’s decision-making.

The tech giant announced in a February company memo that they were discontinuing their diversity goals of hiring more employees from “underrepresented groups,” and was analyzing whether their other initiatives were in compliance with President Donald Trump’s executive orders targeting DEI in the public and private sector.

Google is now ending their “equity and inclusion employee trainings that the company previously conducted,” per the source.
