California police are searching for a person of interest in the shooting of an officer.
CBS News reported that on February 22, a shooting was reported in the back parking lot of the Hillsborough Police Department shortly after 3:45 p.m.

Soon after the incident, witnesses saw a Hispanic male in his mid to late 20s near the scene. The person of interest was seen running southbound on El Camino near Carol, Cypress, and Barroilhet in Burlingame around 5:30 p.m. Witnesses described his demeanor as anxious, with frequent look-arounds as if he were trying to avoid attention.
He is described as physically fit, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall, with short black hair. He was wearing a black windbreaker-type jacket, dark-colored baggy jeans with rhinestones on the back pockets, a black hat with a netted back, and flat-soled Nike shoes.
The Hillsborough Police Department is seeking information concerning the incident.. They are also looking for video surveillance footage from the afternoon into the evening of February 22.
KTVU described the attack on the officer as an ambush-style attack, and police officials believe the department was specifically targeted.
The officer who was shot did return fire, but it is uncertain if the assailant was struck.
Following the attack, multiple law enforcement agencies canvassed the area, along with police helicopters.
The officer was taken to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
