Kieran Culkin’s Censored Oscars Talk: His True Thoughts on Trump Movie

Kieran Culkin’s acceptance speech at the 2025 Oscars became an instant talking point after censors muted part of his remarks.

The actor, aged 42, was awarded the Best Supporting Actor title for his role in “A Real Pain,” a comedy-drama film crafted by his co-star Jesse Eisenberg. Culkin triumphed over nominees like Robert Downey Jr., Colman Domingo, and Timothée Chalamet.

However, it was Kieran Culkin’s bleeped comments about Jeremy Strong’s performance in “The Apprentice” that quickly went viral.

After securing the victory, Culkin commenced his acceptance speech by lauding his former “Succession” colleague. Unfortunately, the live broadcast muted his audio when he let slip an expletive.

A video surfaced on social media, revealing what Culkin actually said, as reported by Deadline.

During the award presentation, Robert Downey Jr. had praised Strong’s portrayal of Roy Cohn in the “Donald Trump” movie “The Apprentice.” Culkin seconded this sentiment and expressed his admiration for Strong’s work in the film, commenting, “He’s right, by the way. Jeremy, you’re amazing in ‘The Apprentice.’ I love your work. It’s f-cking great.”

The actor quickly realized his slip-up, covering his mouth in mock horror and adding, “I’m not supposed to single anyone out. It’s favoritism. Anyway, but you were great.”

Strong, who portrayed Culkin’s on-screen brother in “Succession,” appeared to take the compliment in stride.

But Culkin’s speech wasn’t all about Hollywood camaraderie. He also took the opportunity to remind his wife, Jazz Charton, of a promise she made to him if he ever won an Oscar.

“About a year ago, I was on a stage like this, and I very stupidly, publicly said that I want a third kid from her because she said if I won the award, she would give me the kid,” Culkin shared, drawing laughs from the audience. “Turns out she said that because she didn’t think I was gonna win. She goes, ‘Oh god, I did say that. I guess I owe you a third kid.’ And I turned to her, and I said, ‘Really, I want four.’”

Charton’s response, according to Culkin, was, “I will give you four when you win an Oscar.”

Kieran then took the opportunity to remind Charton of her promise, pointing out that he has “not brought it up once until just now.”

“But I just have this to say to you, Jazz, love of my life, ye of little faith,” he joked. “No pressure, I love you, I’m really sorry I did this again, and let’s get cracking on those kids. What do you say?”

The camera cut to Charton in the crowd, as she was seen laughing at her husband’s candid acceptance speech and seemingly agreed to follow through on her promise.

Culkin was nominated in the best supporting actor category alongside Yura Borisov for Anora, Edward Norton for “A Complete Unknown,” Guy Pearce for “The Brutalist,” and his Succession co-star, Jeremy Strong, for “The Apprentice.”

Back in 2012, the 36-year-old writer met Culkin at a bar in New York City. Charton, who was born in London and raised by a single mom, started dating Culkin shortly after their first meeting. One year later, the pair eloped in Iowa while on a road trip.

These days, the couple are proud parents to five-year-old daughter Kinsey and three-year-old son Wilder Wolf.

Receiving his first Oscar nomination and win, Culkin also won at this year’s SAG Awards, Critics Choice Awards, and the Golden Globes. The “Home Alone” star previously begged his “beautiful wife,” Charton, for more kids at the 2024 Emmy Awards.

‘Thank you for sharing your life with me and for giving me two amazing kids,’ he said during his acceptance speech at the time. “And Jazz, I want more. You said maybe, if I win.”

Macaulay Culkin also revealed he had an emotional reaction after his brother and fellow actor was recognized for “A Real Pain.”

“I cried, and I was like, ‘I’m going to see you later,'” the 44-year-old “Home Alone” star said, adding that he had a good feeling about Kieran Culkin’s chances of winning.

“Yeah, absolutely,” Macaulay Culkin said of expecting his brother’s win. “He was front row, aisle, closest to the stairs. There was no way he was not going to win.”
