Treasury sued over Musk's DOGE access to private information

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, and then-Republican presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump were both present at a campaign event at the Butler Farm Show on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in Butler, Pa.

Various court cases are underway, targeting the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), leading to significant consequences and repercussions.

The twin concepts, of course, refer to the results, direct and indirect, respectively, of an action.

In a recent development on Tuesday night, President Donald Trump made a startling admission that no attorney representing the Trump administration has previously been able or willing to make. During a joint session of Congress, the 45th and 47th president stated that Elon Musk was, indeed, the person in charge of DOGE.

“To further combat inflation, we will not only be reducing the cost of energy, but will be ending the flagrant waste of taxpayer dollars,” Trump said. “And to that end, I have created the brand new Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE. Perhaps you’ve heard of it. Perhaps. Which is headed by Elon Musk, who is in the gallery tonight.”

Consequently, that portion of the president’s speech is now a matter of the court record in at least two cases challenging the authority of Musk, DOGE, and the organization’s efforts to cut federal spending.
