A TIGER has killed a zoo keeper in a horror attack after the staff member entered the cage and was bitten on the head by the beast.
The zookeeper, 52, who worked at Pitesti Zoo located 60 miles from Bucharest, Romania, tragically lost his life this morning in a brutal mauling that lasted just a few minutes.
It is reported that the keeper did not respect security procedures and entered the cage when it was too dangerous to.
Few details are known as to why the unidentified zoo keeper went into the cage at that moment, as he had been working at the zoo for several years.
The prosecutors and the police opened an investigation after the tragic case.
Officials from Pitesti City Hall told The Sun Online, “The employee responsible for maintaining the area entered the tiger’s enclosure without following the necessary safety protocols.
“Specifically, as per the protocols, the worker should have first moved the tiger to a separate enclosure enclosed with a high fence for cleaning, before securing the cage with a safety door.”
“But the worker did not respect that measure, he forgot to close the safety door, the tiger entered back in his cage and bite him from the head.”
