Why Was The Royal’s Netflix Show Renewed?

Although the initial season had a mixed reception from fans and the press, industry insiders suggest that the continued interest in Meghan was a crucial factor in ensuring the show’s renewal.
One TV insider told The Sun, “This may raise a few eyebrows but one thing which Netflix loves is controversy – and this show certainly created alot of debate.”
They added, “Many were so scathing about the eight-part series that they thought there was no way it would get another season. But it seems the streamer is delighted with the chatter it’s created on both sides of the Atlantic this week.”

Meghan Markle’s Netflix Show Criticized As ‘Pointless’
Meghan’s Netflix features the Duchess hosting well-known friends at a lavish California estate, where she shares tips on cooking, gardening, and entertaining.
However, critics have dismissed it as a “gormless lifestyle filler” that lacks substance.
The Guardian‘s Stuart Heritage wrote that the show was “so pointless it might be the Sussexes’ last TV show,” adding that it might also be the “final thing” Meghan makes for Netflix.
The Telegraph gave the show just two stars. In a review, they said the series was a “narcissistic filler.”
The Blast‘s Kristin Myers also gave a strong analysis of the show, criticizing the Duchess of Sussex for being “hilariously out of touch,” especially after urging viewers to reach out to their local beekeepers so they could create their own candles.

Myers also called out Meghan’s pristine appearance and “meticulously pressed blouses” while taking part in certain activities, such as cooking, noting that “for someone who seems to love gardening and getting their hands in the dirt, it doesn’t show.”

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Have Had Mixed Success With Netflix

In the series, Meghan shares various recipes, from spaghetti to a honey and lemon cake, as well as tips for crafting the perfect breakfast.
She described the project as a personal journey, saying it helped her “find herself” again. Despite her massive social media presence, Meghan insists she identifies more as a “female founder” and “entrepreneur” rather than an influencer.
Since signing their high-profile Netflix deal in 2020, Harry and Meghan have had mixed success. Their documentary, “Harry & Meghan,” was a global sensation, attracting nearly 29 million households in its first four days.
However, other projects, like the polo-themed sports docuseries, “Live to Lead,” and “Heart of Invictus,” which followed wounded veterans at the Invictus Games, failed to generate the same level of excitement.
Now, with “With Love, Meghan,” the Duchess attempts a fresh rebrand as a “domestic goddess.”

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry’s Netflix Deal Could Be In Jeopardy

Despite their high-profile partnership with Netflix, insiders suggest Meghan and Harry’s relationship with the streaming giant may be nearing its end.
Reports indicate the couple has been hard to work with, with one source telling The Sunday Times that the term “nightmare” is often used internally.
The fate of their Netflix deal now appears to hinge on whether “With Love, Meghan” becomes a success.
Unlike their previous project, “Polo,” where they made only brief appearances, Meghan takes center stage in her latest series, while Harry remains in the background.
Beyond entertainment, “With Love, Meghan” is also being positioned as a launchpad for the Duchess’s upcoming lifestyle brand, As Ever.
The business, which is expected to sell various products, ranging from jams and teas to pet accessories and soaps, will likely pop up in stores linked to Netflix.
