Alyssa Farah Griffin made a promise her co-hosts would probably prefer she doesn’t keep on this morning’s episode of The View.
During the second Hot Topics segment, Griffin observed the interaction between president-elect Donald Trump and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden at the Notre Dame Cathedral reopening. She noted with satisfaction that they appeared to engage in a friendly conversation while seated next to each other.
Griffin highlighted the significance of this encounter, emphasizing that not only America’s allies but also its adversaries were observing. She emphasized the global attention that was focused on the recent election and the anticipation surrounding its outcome.
She commented on the importance of a peaceful transition of power and expressed her ongoing concerns about Donald Trump. Despite her reservations, she acknowledged the importance of America moving forward and commended the First Lady for maintaining a courteous demeanor towards the president-elect on the international stage.
Griffin, who has been publicly critical of Trump since resigning from his administration in 2020, was also happy that Trump met with French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the war in Ukraine during his trip abroad.
“That’s something I care deeply about and I want Donald Trump to come around to perhaps continuing to support Ukraine and standing by the U.S.’s position,” Griffin said.
While the Republican co-host was complimentary of her former boss, she explained that that didn’t mean she was “changing [her] tune” about him.
“My point when I say, ‘I’m not going to be apocalyptic,’ it’s not ‘changing a tune,’ it’s not making every single thing a five-alarm fire,” she said, noting that if Trump is able to get Hamas to release the Israeli hostages, “I promise I will wear a MAGA hat for one day on this show and say, ‘Thank you for doing it.’”
“You have to be able to cheer for wins when they happen and then call out relentlessly the wrongdoing,” she added.
Referring to Griffin’s promise, Sunny Hostin warned, “Please don’t do that,” while Griffin joked, “And she’ll knock it right off my head!”
