Rihanna is unfazed by criticism regarding the names of her sons, RZA and Riot Rose. An individual on The Shade Room’s Instagram post expressed disapproval of the boys’ names, but the Fenty entrepreneur remained unworried. The criticism occurred alongside the sharing of rare pictures from Rihanna’s childbirth experiences on International Women’s Day.
“I hate their names so bad”.
Rihanna noticed the comment and chose to dismiss it with a light-hearted response. On Sunday, she replied, “@tatianagalaxxy ok tatiana”.
The singer responded briefly to the comment, swiftly after commemorating International Women’s Day by posting images on Instagram from the births of her two children. These photos, taken a little over a year apart, depict Rihanna in hospital beds holding each of her newborns.
At that time, she expressed,
“by far the most powerful thing I’ve ever done as a woman…my little miracles! #InternationalWomensDay”.
She added humorously,
“And yes I gave birth in pearls and sunglasses…don’t ask, a lot was happening”.
The nine-time Grammy Award winner welcomed RZA with A$AP Rocky in May 2022, and their second son, Riot, arrived in August of the following year.
Rihanna and her partner disclosed their first son’s name on his inaugural birthday in 2023, citing the influence of the three-letter name of the Wu-Tang Clan’s lead vocalist.
In her February cover interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Rihanna shared that the name for their youngest son was suggested by Pharrell Williams.
“Pharrell gave us that name thinking it was going to be a girl because he saw something,”
she explained.
During the same interview, Rihanna also discussed the distinct personalities of her two boys.
“RZA is just an empath,”
she remarked.
“He’s so magical. He loves music, melody, books”. “And Riot, he’s just hilarious,”
she added.
“From the second he wakes up, he wants to squeal and scream”.
